A life is best lived moment by moment. Life rolls along like a rolling stone, gathering good and bad debris. When bad things happen, go to the Lord for His comfort and direction. Of His wisdom, He gives freely. He is for you and not against you. Carefully listen to God's voice concerning the bad things or else you could develop unforgiveness, resentfulness and even hatred toward others. God has a way up and out into His light. At the same time, look for His good and expect it.
